Graham Tovey original art

Drawing on the traditions of landscape painting, Graham Tovey has a style and technique inspired by the free use of paint and dissolving textures of JMW Turner and very much belonging to the modern world.  Growing up on the south coast of England, the marshes of Kent, and Sussex have stayed with him, providing material from which to work.

Described as ‘the landscape of open spaces’, his work is created entirely with oil paint and a palette knife to demonstrate the profound toughness of landscape.  The stormy or dramatic skies in his paintings infuse the work with rhythmic movement.

Moving to France and later to Jersey, Graham Tovey has always lived close to the sea and the coastal landscape remains his focus – the horizon, where the sea finishes and the sky begins.
