Originally trained in Architecture at Sheffield University before taking his MA at the London College of Communication in 2003, Jon currently works out of a studio in London Bridge. His fine art photography practice is supported by photographic and graphic design work for a range of clients with particular emphasis on architecture, planning and heritage organisations.“My work is concerned with ideas of the layering of history both physically and emotionally. I look to tease out stories hidden in the fabric and collective memory of the city, retelling them and prompting the viewer to look at their surrounds anew.” In Re-imaginings Jon presents two aspects of his work that offers us a new way of seeing the world around us. A new piece from his Poliptych vs Capriccio series commissioned specifically for this exhibition creates a view of an alternative Margate. 72 separate photographs come together to form a mythical panorama – a view that cannot possibly exist, but one that the mind’s eye wants to believe.
